Anchors

Rocna anchor scores best in test

I have used primarily Bruce type anchors for more than 20 years. Although they have served me well in general, I have often noticed that when setting a Bruce, it would drag a considerable distance before digging in.

Last year I replaced my bower (main) anchor with a Rocna 15 kg after reading test reports online.

The difference is amazing. The Rocna digs in RIGHT NOW and has never failed to hold, despite widely varying bottoms. This is our second season with it, and includes a 3 month trip from Vancouver to Alaska and back, anchoring most nights. Sometimes due to very deep waters we anchored with as little as 2:1 scope, but the Rocna still held reliably.

***** 5 star rating.

Rocnas are made in New Zealand and Canada, and are available from West Marine and Suncoast Marine.
